Summary: After Julie parents get divorced her mom, sister and her are moving. She is very sad to leave her friends and school behind. At first she feels like she has no friends until one day she starts playing basketball with this boy named TJ. She starts to play with him everyday after school. There is a basketball team at the school but it is boys only. When try outs come she asks the coach if she can play. He laughs at her and tells her no. She petitions and gets 150 people to sign it. The coach won't listen still and so she goes to the principal. The principal talks to the school board and gets it passes. Julie is so excited to play basketball.
Reaction: These books are really fun and in a way they teach you about how the country viewed girls at this time. These American Girl books are something kids can relate to.
Problem: Julie isn't allowed to play on the basketball team at her school because she is a girl. She also has to adjust to a new home and school.
Recommendation: I would recommend this book. As I said earlier it is a book that girls can relate to on so many different levels.
