Summary: The Eleventh Hour is about an elephant named Horace. He is turning eleven and so he is inviting all of his friends to a birthday party. Horace prepares the biggest feast ever and then his guests arrive wearing costumes. Horace tells them they won’t eat until the eleventh hour. So they go outside and play games. Then they played music and then card games and cricket. Kilroy the mouse won his friends a game of pool. They had all sorts of fun together. When it was finally time to eat they all rush to the table and find all the food is missing. For a while they all blame each other but Horace goes into the kitchen and makes them all sandwiches. Now the reader gets to solve the mystery of who ate the feast. By looking at clues on every page you find out that it was Kilroy the little mouse that ate the feast.
Reaction: I was very impressed with the amount of work and detail this book had in it. I have looked through it several times and still can’t find all the clues. I like that they let you solve the mystery.
Problem: Someone has ate the parties feast that Horace worked so hard making.
Recommendation: I would recommend to all ages, younger children would need a lot of help. It was hard enough trying to figure it out myself at my age. I think everyone would enjoy this book though; it is so creative and fun.
